yeah it used to be like that before. but not anymore; i had confirmed may be twice via email. i was sent a link; and the lady specifically told me that. she had the lines crossed out and said its not true anymore. Anyways, i will look into it as well. i thought this was a recent rule change.

I appreciate all these responses, but it doesn't answer my initial question...in terms of how I can proceed to take Step 1 for a 4th time (if necessary) if I am close to passing it a 3rd time after significant improvements?

just take it for the last and final time; b/c fifth time i think you are stretching it too much. fourth is allright; but stand out in step2 though

best luck

Although the following link does not list the individual states limits for the number of times you are allowed to fail the Step exams, it does have important information and contact data in case you need to contact boards of certain states:

Suppose you are very close to passing, despite being dismissed from Ross, can they sponsor you to take it a 4th time? I have read some students from Ross took the exam 4 times...but I also read you get dismissed after taking it three times and not passing. Any clarification would be helpful.

Thanks.
One of my friends was in a similar situation. The person is a current Ross student who I am happy to say, has started rotations now. The person passed the test on the third attempt. He/She was not expelled from Ross.

I do not know the rule for 3 failures....but if you go by the 3 strike policy (failing 3 times during basic sciences), you usuallly have to transfer out of Ross.

north dakoda

that is actually not true..i have two friends in residency in north dakota that went to school with me..PM me and i can give you more info, but one had green card issues and could not match anywhere else, and the other had a few fails and could not match anywhere else..by coincidence, they both ended up in the same IM program in north dakota..it is a rural area, and very very uncompetitive..it is considered underserved..

the comments on failing step 2 and step 3? the steps get drastically easier as you go along. i studied for 2 days for step 3...what a waste of 2 days. i would have been better off going to the beach. if you fail step 3, you need to consider janitorial services at a hospital.

why is step 3 so easy? is it just as easy for C students to pass?
you know you hear about those people who hardly know anything on the wards.....

I agree with Jim in that Step 3 is much easier than step 2, but I still think you should put some time into it. Of course I am one of those neurotic types who feel that If I fail a test it shouldnt be from a lack of effort. I would say 2 weeks of cursory studying is enough for step 3. I didnt study anywhere near as hard for step 3 as I did step 2 and I did about the same. I was concerned that I had not studied enough but I was pleasantly surprised when I got my step 3 scores. I think step 2 is the hardest of the steps now that I have taken them all.
