do you bring laptop to campus daily?

do you guys bring your laptop to campus every single day? or in other words, most days? i'm asking because i own a desktop replacement, bulky dell inspiron 9300.. if it makes for better schooling to bring a laptop to campus daily, especially with a 12-15 minute walk from my apt., i am thinking i should invest in a smaller 12" or so laptop.. possibly a tablet pc.. any thoughts? thank you and sorry if this is posted in another thread..

Memory sticks preclude the need for lugging the laptop.

The Fish Bowl and the Ice Box are two sections of the library. There are enough computers to go around in the computer room to watch lectures but it might get a little noisy. I'm going to have to agree with the above post about memory sticks. Bring a huge memory stick or a external hard drive. It'll be useful when you get files and study materials from others students. Make sure you have A LOT of space on them. A lot of people use their IPODs as hard drives. Just be aware that if you get study material from an upper classman, it is not uncommon for them to dump 4GB of stuff on your drive.

Taking notes during class on a laptop is the "wave of the future, wave of the future, wave of the future." I use mine everyday and don't bother with handouts. I suggest you invest in more advanced technology and your education.

With all due respect, I don't agree with this. I don't see how investing in a tablet pc will improve your level of education. Unless you are talking about just a regular laptop. But even then, I think it's more of a convenience issue. I would come with a laptop to the island (because of the convenience) but it is do-able without one... everything you need to know is in the handouts and sometimes they don't put the lectures on the G drive before class so your computer won't help any. Seriously it's just an individual preference deal.
