september and will reach Dominica the weekend before the orientation. Am I correct to understand that all the fantabulous apartments such as avis villes, coco mango etc will be taken? And all the choices that I will have wil be nice but not fabulous choices?

Also with respect to roommates....whom I would love to have, how do people meet potential roommates that they are compatible with?

Thanks guys and GOOD LUCK
I'm starting in May and I secured a place for Avie's. This place fills up pretty quickly. I was lucky and emailed them during the September semester to find out their availability and found out that they suggested sending in a deposit to secure the place as early as February. And that was just for the May semester. And I heard in March they were booked for May. So if you want a nice place like Avie's, you have to secure a place in advance. They won't be available on the housing tour.

As for roommates, people are always posting on the forum looking for a roomie. You have to be pro-active and search them out or post that you're looking for one.

Hope that helps!

Heads Up On Safehome Apartments...

alright, here's the deal. safehome apartments, the big lime green building you can see from campus, WAS...and i repeat WAS...a desirable place to live. literally 2 mins from main gate, central AC included in the rent, no prepaid electricity. well this semester they decide, WITHOUT GIVING US NOTICE LAST SEMESTER, that they are installing individual AC units and going prepaid. prepaid wouldn't be bad if you lived in a one bedroom apt, but the one bedroom apts at safehomes SUCK!!! they are VERY VERY VERY VERY SMALL!! and OVERPRICED. the two bedroom apts are very nice, but the central AC kept the whole building cool...because its not like an open apt building where u open ur door and ur outside...u open the door, go thru hallway, then go outside, so its really hot and muggy in the apts now. however, if u want to live close, have a roommate who wont use all ur electricity, etc., then try getting an apt on 3rd or 4th floor...that way u can leave the windows open for the nice breeze and not worry about mosquitos. i will say, the building is old, moldy and whatnot, but the two bedroom apts are very nice. the one bedrooms suck...they are like a studio with a crappy wall to make it look like a 1 bedroom...so when they say AC included in rent, no its not...ur paying thru ur electricity. it used to be like that and a very desirable place to live. now, it sucks...more bugs, mosquitoes and cockroaches since the hallways are always hot and muggy...oh and lastly, there are no AC units in the living rooms...don't know if they will put em in either...ok, just a heads up...later

Glanvillia

Does anyone know anything about the Glanvillia area? How far is it from campus? The housing website says 5 min drive, then it says 15 minute walk.

Any information would be helpful.

Thanks.

Housing just sent me an email saying that they got my deposit. I sent it to

The housing director ross univ
Picard, porthmouth
Dominica west indies
Phone Number: 1 767 255 6400

they suggested i send via FEDEX (not USPS because that will take 4-5 weeks to get to the island for some reason).

ps. i leave in Cali.... i sent it priority mail and it ended up costing me $49.

so retarded...that much to send 1 freakin envelope. ugh!

good luck.

pps. where are you living next year?
