Since a new post has not been started, I will tell you guys how it works quickly. You get your financial aid refund check at the beginning of fifth semester. However, 5th is only 12 weeks. Since there is a gap between 5th and 6th (which is I believe is a max of 12 weeks depending on how long you study for step 1) you do not receive a refund. The next refund check will come 4 weeks into your rotations in 6th semester....Why? 12 weeks of 5th + 4 weeks of 6th = 16 weeks for a total semester. It is funky and financially frustrating. I had to ask several times to get a straight answer. There used to be the Tuition Answer loan to help cover living expense during this time. I don't know if it is still out there, though. Best of luck and PM me with any questions.

Hey guys, just wanted to get an idea on who was gonna already have their housing set up before they get to the island and how many were going to rely on the housing tour

Secure housing ahead of time if you want one of the nicer places or you don't want to go on the housing tour. There will always be a place to live, it's just a matter of getting a prime location or apartment. I hope that helps!

I went ahead and secured my housing. What I did, I went through the entire Housing in Dominica Thread (as long as it is) and noted all the places that everyone had nothing but good things to talk about. This list came out to about 7 or 8 places. I decided if I could secure a place with anyone of these places, GREAT!!!! If not, then I would wait until I got on the island.

My cousin is a first semester and she secured a place from the housing tour and is very happy with her decision.

Hope that helps.
