Well I am glad it's been mentioned that now is too early to start looking for Sept. housing. I guess I can relax a little.
It is important for me to have a decent place to live, although I guess if I had to rough it for the first semester I can manage. I am coming with cats but I am a little leery of putting down a deposit without even knowing if I am as close to the campus or the annex as the landlord/database says. Do you think coming two weeks before would get me in before the rush so I could find a pet friendly place that is decent? I could come even earlier if need be. Also, I read somewhere on here that it is better to find a place and then ask about animals, instead of just looking at animal friendly places. Is that true? To people with the knowledge, do you think any landlords would be willing to relax their rules if I am there in person trying to negotiate? Animals are so limiting but I can't live without them and stay sane. In the states I was able to keep them from the landlord but I don't think that is doable there. |

I lived in his apartments for 4 semesters. Nice apartments but I wouldn't trust this landlord at all. Rent is negotiable. I was there from Jan 05-May 06. At that time, I paid $425 per month for the first semester. $410 for second semester and $390 for semester 3 and 4. I got the lower price by offering him the full semester rent at the beginning of the semester in cash. He couldn't turn the down the sight of cash due. He was known not to give deposits back but I was able to get the deposit back by putting a lot of pressure on him.

Bringing Pets
Does anyone know people who have brought their pets to the island? I have 2 kitties in the states I can't find homes for and I was wondering if this will make my housing situation difficult.
Also, is there internet access off campus? |

It's easier to find housing with a cat than a dog. With that said, there is always some housing out there willing to take your $$. Just make sure you get the rabies titer on them asap because it could take up to a month for the results!
