When JCU says loud, we are talking about "sub woofers of Fusion rattling your windows like the Concord just flew over your house" loud. But thats only after the MINIs. I like my peace and quiet on Moo Cow.

Hey guys,
I'm leaving for Dominica this Wednesday to go find a place to live (my mom also wants to see where I'm going to be for the next 16 months!) and I was going to make a list of the apartments I look at, their prices, and good/bad things about them. I also plan on taking pictures I figured it may help some of you who can't get down there early, and/or who do not trust the pictures the landlords put online. I'll post when I get back, and if anyone wants pictures of the places I saw, just PM me. I get back early Monday morning. Cheers!

-Faith

any thoughts on Mac&Judy's and Mervin Irish apts?

I'm starting in September and would like an apt in a good location (as close to the main campus as possible), 110 voltage, furniture, and kitchen appliances/pots/pans. If anyone has any recommendations, it would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: sorry, for some reason i thought my original reply a few posts back didn't get posted. thanks jcu, for the comments.

Still searching for an apartment!!

can anyone comment on the distance for Harmony Apartments? The place looks really good and it seems they have all the things one would need. The landlord looks like a great person as well......i am just skeptical about the distance between the main campus, annex and harmony apartments.

your help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I can recommend Leona Rob*erts apartments in glanvilia...it is a 15-20 minute walk to campus an a 5-10 minute to annex.

She is very honest and sincere. I had to leave in the middle of my first semester becuase I was accepted to a US school. She said she did not have the money to give me my deposit back at the time because she used it to invest it in other things. She asked me for my US address and said she would mail me my deposit back once the next semester starts and she gets a little bit more money....

Of course, I did not believe her...I was pretty upset as well..but oh well..I was happy enough that I was accepted to a US school and this seemed like a small price to pay in the long run

1 1/2 mo pass by and guess what? I have a check in my mailbox from Mrs. Rob*erts with my deposit!! This is what I call honesty...she did not have to send me anything! she could have ripped me off as well

PS: sorry i had to put the * in the last name..the filter kept blocking the last name of the landlord

Can anyone comment on Dian John apts? They accept pets but I don't have pets and I want a quiet place. Will I be hearing a lot of dogs barking in this building?

I am interested in Avie's Ville "Luxury Single Apartments" and have exchanged several emails with the landlord who is very patient with answering all my questions but I have a slight problem: I am on the waiting list for this September and she is unsure about who will be moving out so I may have to move into the building that is currently being built now.

Should I wait and hope that someone moves out or is the possibility of someone moving out and the new building built on time is slim. What are the chances that being the first one on the waiting list will get me a room?

I would definitely like to go down and see everything for myself but don't want to if I can get the New Avie's.

I hope that made sense cause I'm totally lost.

It is WAY too early to be searching for housing for September. You should start your official search in June. The earlier you place a deposit, the more likely it will be "forgotten" and your spot will be given away. June/July is when you should begin to place a deposit. Even then, a deposit doesn't always guarentee a spot! I have not heard about that happened at Avies but at some of the less well known places, it happens often enough that I hear about it EVERY semester without fail!
