Thread: How much does a microwave cost in Dominica?

I just found out the place I will be staying at does not have a microwave. How much does a microwave (in US dollars) cost down in Dominica? I'm trying to decide whether it will be cheaper to send one down (costs about $160-170, price of micro + shipping) vs. buying one down there.

$150-300 from the local shop

they arent cheap

but since you might need a 220V one, its better to get it here

And don't forget import tax. Sometimes saw them for sale from other students too as they left the island.

i searched the classified, on this site. very few microwaves have been posted in the past year (i think just 1).

But remember students are always coming/going so once you are there it will be easier to find what you need. I wouldn't ship anything. We didn't and came with kids too.

Most of the apartments have them.

Once upon a time...there were no such things as microwaves.

You can always reheat/cook food on the stove with pots and pans!
