Wireless Network info for those coming in January
might be of help.
basically they said it will be 802.11b in the library. And sometime in mid-2004 the classroom project will begin and 802.11a <--A network. so if you're bringing a laptop down, its best to have it be a joint network card that can do 802.11A+G (or B) G is what popular now is backwards compatible with the B network, but can under the right network can sustain much faster speeds. they also recommend the following brand cards because they have been tested to work on their network: Cisco, TrendMicro, Netgear, or Linksys wireless cards also said windows 2000 or Windows Xp only. They are working on getting apple systems working. |

re
the new lecture hall does have ethernet ports, however they were not active this semester. however they are "supposed" to be inservice at some point next semester. also, the laptop lounge has ethernet ports available for students to connect with their laptops. in order to use either connection with your laptop, it will have to be configured by ITS.
