Peninsula Hospital

Peninsula is AOA not ACGME.

Not approved for California.

I don't believe any of the rotations at Peninsula are ACGME rotations. Depending on the state you want to practice in it might be a liability to have a DO rotation, especially a Core rotation.

Didn't your advisor give you a listing of all ROSS affiliated clinical hospitals which includes all rotations core and elective at the hospitals and whether they are MD or DO. If you didn't get the list ask your advisor. They do get paid to give the students the information they need. Sometimes you just have to continue to ask for things.

Good luck

Still can not decide

If I do decide to do FP, how many DO rotations can we do? I would start on Nov 21st (this is a special rotation) but it seems wycoff might be better hours. Does anyone know what the hours are like at Peninsula?

Your safest route is to contact directly the Medical Licensing Board for the states you may potentially decide to practice in. There are variations and one answer does not fit all. Be very careful about getting all your core rotations in ACGME programs if your licensing state (Pennsylvania) requires it. As stated by MitchDC in another thread:

"For most states, including CALIFORNIA, as long as the site has an approved Family Medicine residency, the rest of the rotations are approved. Why? Because in order to have an approved Family Medicine residency program you must prove that the other areas of your facility meet educational standards as well, since Family Medicine Residents rotate through all the specialties during their training."

-M

In the above quote "approved" refers to ACGME certified not AOA (DO). Be proactive and conduct your own research relative to your specific situation..

Best Wishes for Success.
