I saw on the ACGME webiste that St antony's is a participating institution for the Cook County Peds residency program. Does this mean that doing a Peds rotation at St Anthonys would be considered "green Book"? Im stll trying to figure all this green book not green book stuff out.

Is this a good place to do electives? I'm looking for a place to finish my electives all in one place without having to move from one place to another and this is an option. Any comments?

Anyone rotating at St. Anthony's soon?

HI, I am doing OBGYN and Pediatrics back to back at St. Anthony's in Chicago from Jan 2 to the end of March 2007; does anyone know anything new about these rotations, or is anyone doing any rotations at the same hospital at the same time as me? Any housing suggestions?

Thanks and good luck to all!

X

I can't find St. Anthony's listed on the ACGME website.

Look under Loyola/Cook County Family Medicine program and Cook County Pedes program under Participating Institutions and you will find St. Anthony's listed under both.

Also, I think they might be listed under St. Joseph's Surgery program (I saw St. Joe's surgery residents when I was there).

Pedes and OB/Gyn are both excellent rotations here. A lot of exposure and hands-on work...very little scut work. OB/Gyn is a lot of work and divided into Labor/Deliver, Gyn Surgery, and Clinic. Pedes is divided into Inpatient, Outpatient, and Neonatology.

Surgery has a good number of cases you can scrub in on but there is some scut work involved.

IM is not good from what I hear (I personally have not done it), nor is Family Medicine unless you get one particular doctor (Dr. H-ll-an).

Most of the electives are good here...ER and Anasthesia are great! You get to do quite a bit. All electives are 4 weeks long and all rotations have set start and finish dates.

Hope this info helps.

psych at st. anthony's? I didn't think they offered that there.

Most people who rotate at St. Anthony's usually live near UIC/Rush and take the Pink Line straight to the Hospital (there is a station right next door to the hospital) or they rent places near Michael Reese and drive.
