Shady Business

Until MUCH further notice, this is NOT true! I was sent down to Atlanta under the pretense i was going to do OBGYN at Atlanta Medical Center, and Pediatrics through Emory. Eventually, my transcript will say OBGYN at AMC and Pediatrics at Dekalb Medical Center. Neither of which hospitals we students went to. There is a rumor started from the person contracted by Ross, Dr. D, to set up rotations in Atlanta through a company, MDCSA. He has been saying soon he hopes a surgery rotation will be set up through Emory or St. Josephs (which may become part of emory). This he says won't happen for about 6 months. UNTIL it does, do not believe them when they say you are going to emory.

NOT saying rotations in atlanta are bad! Many are pretty good. They are similar to rotations contracted out for Chicago. They are not hospital based, but instead you are assigned a Dr. who usually works out of is own private or group practice. If lucky, you get to go to the affiliated hospital to view surgeries or do rounds once a blue moon. Even though AMC is listed as my rotation, they currently will not allow any Ross student in their OR's, due to some mishap early in the summer.

Therefore, take everything you hear from Ross with a grain of salt. AND DO LOTS OF RESEARCH BEFORE YOU COMMIT.

AMC and crawford don't let you into OR, but dekalb does once you finish scrub/sterile technique training which takes 10 minutes.

For those who have completed any rotations in ATL, what are your thoughts so far? I am on my way to 5th, and I am from the ATL area, so everything seems ideal, but I want to know what people's experiences have been.
