AMC no longer
So I did my Atlanta rotations LAST August - October! Before going down there, and with many conversations with Ross clinical department, I was assured that the OBGYN was going to be through Atlanta Medical Center (which is ACGME thru OBGYN, not just Family Medicine), and the Peds was throught Dekalb Medical Center (which is ACGME thru Peds).
NOW (and it has been like this for 5 months at least)... On my clinical rotations schedule and transcript it now shows "OBGYN - Dekalb Medical Center" and "Pediatrics - Dekalb Medical Center". I have called ross couple times to change the obgyn to "AMC" and they do, but just to see it for a day and then next time I look at my schedule it changes back to Dekalb. This wouldnt' be a problem if Dekalb had a OBGYN residency program and is ACGME (not thru the whole FM umbrella). Now when calling the clinical department today, they give us this reply... "We have lost the ability to get the rotation accredited with AMC. They won't acknowledge that any student who did the rotation (even in the PAST) did it through AMC, even if there was an agreement at the time." In their attempt to fix this, they contacted Dekalb Medical and asked if they would let Ross say the students did it at Dekalb and have it count. Since Dekalb agreed, for any student who did rotations at AMC, it will show up on their transcript as though they did it through Dekalb. WHAT HORSE $%&*!!!!!!!! Looks like I have to spend some time on the phone with chu.... I LOVE ROSS Anyways, sorry for the rant.... just beware of Ross telling you you're doing a rotation at "Atlanta Medical Center" |

BTW - I am going to apply for the ATL rotations after I take the step in July...Besides this recent punch to the junk, how has your experience been in ATL?

warning for guys going to atl, "only psych (at inner harbour thru morehouse) and ped thru dekalb is ACGME acrediated". other rotations is at your oun risk, this is what tx and ca boards told me and it is says it in ACGME website. dont limit yourself to only some states because more states are adopting ca and tx list. dont believe what they told you from nj office. we lost emory and amc.
