This program is affiliated with jackson park - where you do 3 weeks at jackson park and 3 weeks at grove pediatrics. has anyone done this rotation? it seems sort of shady to me, in the sense that it might jeapordize me in getting licensure later on. Has anyone had any problems getting into any programs after having completed pediatrics here? What is your feel about this program? Should I take it or pray that peds will happen somewhere else? (it's the only core I have left)

Thanks guys!

The 3 weeks you do at JPH are in Neonatology. The program between Grove Pediatrics and JPH is fairly new....it only started a few months ago.

I myself have not done the rotation but from what I have heard, the 3 weeks you do in Buffalo Grove are outpatient Pedes at a private clinic...the doctor there doesn't really let you do much...it's more like you are shadowing him. He used to take students to a hospital affiliated with Northwestern but I'm not sure if he does that anymore.

The Neonatology at JPH is pretty good from what I've heard but a lot of presentations. Depending on the amount of deliveries, it is hot and cold in terms of seeing patients.

Overall, if you can get a better rotation, I think that would be better. But with the shortage of Pedes rotations, this is not a bad option if you have no other choices.

Good luck!

Finally, it seems ross is adding a new pediatrics site.Does anyone know how many students they will take on? And what is the call schedule like and what are the hours like? If I can get this rotation in short notice, I'll do it so I can avoid going back to the island.

Are there any other options for peds in Chicago? I am signed up for a Step 2 review course here, so I can't really move right now, and my OBGYN is over in a couple of weeks.

Thanks so much for all the answers. I really appreciate it!

Has anyone recently rotated at Grove? Can you give me the breakdown if it's still 1st 3 weeks at Jackson, 2nd 3 weeks at Grove, what the hours are, where you report?

Thanks!

peds

It's not really a new rotation. It's actually the same doctor who used to be affiliated with Advocate Lutheran - the affiliation is just now with Jackson Park.
