I am not sure how long ago you rotated there Shah but I rotated there this past Feb-March. I did not see any residents at all and the director, Dr. A is def not a ross graduate.

The psych rotation itself is ok nothing spectacular. The hours depend on where you get placed, ER, dayprogram, Detox...etc For the most part they are pretty easy 9-1. You have a lecture everyday at 12 that is usually given by a student. You have to do 1 presentation and 2 typed up H&P's. You have to do 1 Sat or Sun and 2 weekday calls, which are a joke, nothing overnight. You usually see 1 or 2 patients in the ER and then you are done. Dr. A is really nice and very approachable. I am pretty sure most everyone gets an A.

commute from manhattan is fine....just take the A train towards far rockaway. You will get all the info in the e-orientation email from the PD.

I think the train ride is about an hour or more depending on where you are coming from in the city....far rockaway is the last stop on the A train but I never recieved any e-orientation email from anyone so I wouldnt count on it...

The reason why I encouraged the commute from Manhattan is because I DO NOT recommend you stay around the area of the hospital. Lot of crime, drugs, and the psycho patients walking around at dusk.
