Just finished my ob/gyn rotation and feel pretty good about what i saw and did there. There is a good mixture of ob/gyn/clinic but wish there was more to do in clinic other than stand around and watch. If you can't draw blood or don't know how to you will be an expert by the time this rotation is through. The lectures are decent and somewhat interactive. The head guy is pretty harsh at times and I can't figure out why but I'd like to think that he has our best interest in mind. You really get hands on experience if you want it, just show some interest, otherwise you can stand on the side and wait for them to ask you for a blood-draw or an IV. Be prepared to hustle though, neither the residents nor your co-students want to see you slacking off, there seems to always be 1 or 2 of those in every rotation. The residents are cool with the students for the most part, although there is 1 that should really not be practicing medicine and should apply for a prison guard position at Guantanamo Bay, happy to never see her again. That is ok though, the rest are great to work with and are eager to teach. Oh and OMG

there is one intern that must have been a model before going into medicine , I would have done the rotation over again to see him for another 6 wks. The funny part is that he has no clue about how hot he is because his personality makes him that much more pleasant to be around, trust me ya'll you will enjoy working with him, his patients were always raving about him when he left the room. The attendings are pretty good too you can ask them anything, they won't make you feel stupid. There is an oral and a shelf-type exam at the end, about 6 or 7 calls total including weekend, plenty of OR time in ob and gyn. Day start at 6:30am for ob and gyn and ends around 4:30-5:00pm. Students round on the post-partum day 1 patients and all gyn patients. All in all one of the better rotations for Ross clinicals, you get what you put into it.
Have fun!
and tell Dr. Eric to keep smiling
