After starting residency at a large University hospital, i realized that the US students here have it made compared to Ross students. The difference is seriously night and day. The students here are treated VERY well, never on overnight call, excellent study facilities, excellent faculty, their clinical schedule is made up for them at the end of their second year, and they end up interviewing excellent programs and matching things like derm, optho and rads. Then theres ross students who are packed into Wycoff and emptying foley bags, etc. I can't even get a med student here to do a rectal on someone. A student gave me fuss when I asked them to fill out a nursing home transfer form. They show up at 7:45am for 8am rounds. I remember my rotations where I had to show up and see my assigned pts BEFORE the intern and have the note in the chart. Now, its the opposite (students copy my notes just prior to rounds, and then present it as if they did all the work).
Wow, you do work hard at ross doing the "scut" work that nobody else wants to do, but when you become an intern/resident, most of you will definately not piss off any faculty as you'll be used to taking care of "scutty" type things automatically without whining. Nobody likes a resident-whiner.

So give the lil brats a bad evaluation, or report their laziness to the attending when its time for evals...we worked too hard, and I'll be darned if someone who didn't put chit into it gets such an easy path... >:-O

i had to take a shelf at the place and it took me 30 minutes to find a parking spot about 15 blocks away. there is no parking there for students or really anyone else except docs. when i arrived, i started getting desperate and pulled up to the front to ask a nurse where a patients park.... she said "on the street like everyone else."
consider taking the subway. they have a station right near the hospital.

parking at wyckoff
the best time to get parking is between 6 and 7am.
Before that the locals haven't left for their work. After that the best spots are taken. After 9am don't even bother looking inside the 5 block radius. The small streets are all one-ways and the alternate side parking rules are Mon&Thu or Tue&Fri. Figure out the pattern and you can optimize your search path. The moral of the story is arrive early. If you try to blame your lateness on parking then the attending willassume you are a poor manager of time. (if he cares, that is. Some don't care and will give you the same grade no matter what you do)
