How is the OB/GYN core? Is it ACGME?

People claim it is ACGME but the residency program in OB/GYN here is a D.O. residency??

I have done a "search". But nothing I've found shows for a fact that the OB/GYN rotation is ACGME. The residency at Wyckoff in OB/GYN is a osteopathic (D.O.) residency. From what I've been told there must be a M.D. residency in the same specialty as the rotation for it to be considered a valid ACGME rotation. That's why I'm confused about people saying it's ACGME.

OB GYN: I really liked the program... I got to do A LOT -- from c-sections to delivery to clinic.. it's a lot of hands on and they will guide you without a problem... the teaching is mostly by student presentations but that is good too because the attendings will add missing information or at the end tell you to focus on certain points that are important... the annoying part, as their are always annoying parts in all rotations are the PA's... there's three of them, two of them are great, very nice.. one of them (the one who grades you, yes, a PA will give you the final grade) is annoying as chirping birds are when you are trying to sleep in -- total power tripping -- at the end of our rotation she gave a little speech about how she was going to be fair in grading us and added "if I don't know your face, then you're really just another student in a little white coat..." nice.

Overall, I liked it though.
Good Luck.

Its NY medical college brooklyn queens program, wyckoff/caritas is listed on their Freida site, as a participating institution, MD residents from this program rotate through. BTW, next time, search harder.

read what sree has posted about acgme rotations:

http://www.valuemd.com/aua-medical-s...tml#post639586

You will note that the ACGME does not accredit rotations but rather residencies. Rotations done at a hospital that has a residency that is ACGME, are considered "ACGME", "greenbook", or the proper term "ACGME affiliated". Rotations are considered undergraduate medical education, and the ACGME only deals with residencies (aka graduate medical education).

Now if you were to search the ACGME website (ACGME Accredited Program and Institutional Listing - Public Access) and were to look up OB/GYN in NY, if you select NY med college (Bklyn-Qns prgm) you will note that Wyckoff is listed as a participating institution for that program. Yes the Wyckoff OB/GYN rotation is AOA, but it is also ACGME affiliated. Caritas sends its MD residents over to Wyckoff for some monthly rotations. This has been addressed numerous times on this thread. The same goes for the Surgery rotation at Wyckoff.

So is Wyckoff's OB/GYN rotation ACGME affiliated? YES...

Is Wyckoff's Surgery rotation ACGME affiliated? YES...

Just check the ACGME website, or Frieda.

I would stick with them and make the most out of your time at Wyckoff! Surgery isn't that bad at Wyckoff, you do learn how to make sure you have all your stuff together for rounds, and Dr. C*** is an excellent teacher, plus surgery grand rounds are generally quite good. Just do nothing to annoy or upset any of the surgery residents.
I thought so too until I saw surgery grand rounds done at another hospital...Resident's memorized patient information and did not use PPTs to present, all done from memory. Projectors were only used for pics of microscopic/gross specimens only.
