no hands on experience

its pretty much setup for those who already matched and dont want to do anything or those trying to study for step 2.

Dr G will wander in around 10:30 am or later. Begin speaking for an hour or two then leave. You won't see a patient. If you're lucky he'll show you a CT or MRI.

You'll get a B. No more or less

forgot about this one.

1-2 hrs/day from 10:30-noon. 3-4X per week.

Good elective to do if you plan on taking the boards during that month. No patient contact, just lectures. Definite A if you show up and the prof recognizes your face.

parking at Wyckoff

Just curious if you drive to Wyckoff during clinicals where do the Medical students park. Is there a parking lot? Is it open 7 days a week?

Does any of the students live in the area within walking distane from Wyckoff.

Thanks for any info.

My brother used to park on the street, but this involves driving around the block a few hundred times and risk getting a parking ticket.

I woudln't recommend living near Wyckoff. It's a freaky neighborhood. There are other places to live with the convenience of the subway system.

There is a parking lot, but it's tough to get a spot in it. "J" has his own system of determining who gets spots...so don't hope for it.

Buy the monthly metro pass and you'll be smiling.

DO or Md

Sha Patel Pt:

Thought that the Surgery at wyckoff was now ACGME through Bronx Lebanon hospital. Doesn't that mean the physician instructing and the residents would be MD and not DO?

Negative! There are still DO students here and from what I have heard, there is minimal physician (attending) contact. Mostly doing scut work for the residents (DOs)

RE: electives at Wycoff...the following is a cut and paste from another thread, but it has valuable info re. electives...

path at wyckoff. 3-4 pathologists. 8-4 (sometimes you can leave early). no autopsies to view. mainly small surgical specimens and a few hrs at the microscope per day. not too demanding.

Neuro at wyckoff: 1-2 hrs per day, for 3-4 days per week. good for board review. No patient contact, all classroom discussion/lectures.

Cardio at wyckoff: worth doing for 2 weeks. you will learn your EKGs really well. no patient contact. all classroom discussion/lectures. 2 hrs/day.
