I agree...and those thinking of PA residency..(is out of the question...if it reverts back to only DO)

It's very difficult to get concrete answers regarding this, since..even some attendings/chief residents don't know about it either. Its part of the politics that occurs in hospitals...Let's just hope for the best..for the sake of us all...

Are all the surgical residents MD's and part of the Bronx Lebanon deal. Are they in varying stages of theiur residencies? I assume all new years of their residencies would start in JUly. If so they shoulod be notified soon if there is a change in where their rotation will be so they can look for housing etc. I assume each year they sign a contract with the hospital?

I dont know first hand about the program...but I have heard that the majority of the residents are DO...maybe a few MD residents rotate through Wyckoff on a monthly basis.

All of the Wyckoff surgical residents ARE DOs. Bronx Lebanon does not send any of their surgical residents to Wyckoff, for obvious reasons.

Every few weeks, 1 MD Family Practice resident from Wyckoff rotate thru the Surgical services and this is the lone MD many folks mistook as an MD 'surgical' resident. Podiatrists and OB/GYN residents (all DOs too) rotate thru surgery too.

Many residency programs sponsor both DO and MD residents and the two work side by side.

I am confused. If you go on the ACGME under Surgery for Bronx Lebanon it states that there are two residents at Wyckoff. I assumed the reason that Wyckoff is ACGME is that there are MD residents from the Bronx Lebanon program there. Why else would Wyckoff be allowed to have an ACGME Surgery rotation? Why would they allow this. Sounds "fishy" but maybe I misunderstand the subject.

Ur right, Surgery at Wyckoff is indeed a 'fishy' operation. I suspect with the right amount of money, Bronx Lebannon will say whatever is necessary on paper. However, it remains that there are no Bronx Lebannon or any MD surgical residents at Wyckoff. Not this year, not last year, and possibly ever.

One of my biggest concerns while rotating thru this rotation is that I don't somehow become as unscupulous, nasty, and malignant as the 'surgeons' at this hospital. Sadly, these people(PD, chairman, assistant PD, most residents, the blond attending, secretary, etc.) are a sorry bunch.

At least there has to be an MD in charge of the program and not a DO in order for it to be an MD rotation. What about on LOR's. Do them come from the MD in charge of Family Practice?
