I spoke to JR about that rumor and he said it was not true. Where did you get this information? I'm hearing conflicting details...

Junito- Did you asked J-man about his niece? She's a Rossie just starting clinicals and he won't let her do any rotation at Wyckoff. Instead, J-man set up everything for her in CA. Maybe he knows something he's not telling us? I trust this guy about as far as I can throw him......

ShahPatel- I heard this from one of the senior residents (last name P.) telling an attending (the vascular guy Gw...tman). Notice I wrote "I believe Wyckoff will soon lose the MD accreditation" and NOT "they WILL". I believe what this one resident said but the accreditation situation may have changed since then.

Singer- even if Wyckoff does loses the MD accrediation, which may or may not occur and only time will tell, FP is still a MD program and CA will still recognize every rotation at Wyckoff as MD. No worries....

Homebrave:

how long ago did you hear the conversation on Surgery losing the MD status?

Also is it possibe JR's niece is from California nd could live near her home and not in the shoddy area of Brooklyn or Queens?

Its great that California accepts all FP rotations as MD at Wyckoff. What about states like New Jersey or Pennsylvania?

Pennsylvania does not accept the FP umbrella, and does not accept DO rotations. All rotations must be done at sites that have an ACGME approved residency (or be a participating institution for a program that does). So if this happens, then there will be disruptions for those wanting to have PA as an option. I can't wait to get my cores out of the way!

I think PA also changed its bylaws to require 78 weeks now, not 72.....

If Wyckoff surgery rotation and the electives relatedto it revert back to DO status it would effect alot of current and future ROSS students that are looking for all ACGME approved rotations. If the affiliation is lost with Bronx Lebanon hopefully it will be picked up by another hospital. There are probably over 200 ROSS students doing their surgery rotation at Wyckoff yearly.
