    A couple possible problems:
    1. You may have difficulty gaining a work permit as a foreign student.
    2. In all likelyhood, you won't have time to study medicine and work.
    3. Even if the above are overcome, you still have a final problem: Wages are very low for unskilled jobs, unless, of course, you have a marketable skill. (I know this, because thousands of Romanians work in the 'black' illegally in Hungary, mostly doing unskilled jobs.)

    risk

Unless you speak Romanian, there's about 1% chance you can work (see above post from Miklos) med school in CE/EE is a full time job, you won't have time to work. Maybe in the summers of the 1-3 years you can work back home and save some $$, but thats about it..UNLESS you are Norwegian..they get PAID to do their rotations back in Norway..sweet deal!

dude, I dont know about you guys, but I have heard alot and lot and lot of scary stories about Romania, and for a foreigner, oh my God I cannot even imagine.... but you know maybe they are just that, rumours around the rumour mill, but yeah Romania I have heard is definitely not the most stable climate from what I have heard, and you want to pack your bags and live there for six years? Hungary or Prague would be much much wiser actually if you are considering a foreign European school, not the safest Hungary is, but I would feel much much better going to Hungary than freakin Romania thats for damn sure.... anyways my two cents. good luck.

I hear you man, its cool and all Romania that is, but please clue me in again, why exactly is Romania a personal preference to you as far as medical school? Where do you want to eventually practice or do residency? just curious.... and never ever heard of anyone from another country voluntarily signing up for Romania, thats really fascinating and interesting to me, unless you have some people there at the very least or something. No offense to Romania though, I am not talking about the corruption, just I heard alot about the crime as far as dangers, like whenever anyone would drive through Romania, it would be like "dont ever stop" man why in the world is that??? I have driven through there, doesnt seem so bad to me. Man Europe in general is just freakin amazing. Its cool though I totally respect your decision. Just I would have no clue about the student classmate distribution from Romanian medical schools, has anyone from the US ever gone and studied there? Where are the students from actually? Romania only or mainly? Man I would be very very interested and curious about this, learn something new every day. Good luck to you though man.

    Hello, whattupdog6969...

Can you tell us a real scary story about Romania? Why do you consider that this is so scary? Did you study there? Do you have friends who told you how is there?

It is very safe, I know some people who study in Romania and nothing happened to them yet.
Well, regarding corruption I don't know, I dont think that someone would talk about this, even if it would be true.
Unfortunately just few people here study in Romania and everyone thinks, that the universties are corrupt... Currently I am also thinking about going to Oradea or Iasi, I think Iasis reputation is somewhat better.
