Does Oradea (or any other romanian uni) favour non-EU applicants over E.U?

    Another problem came up.

I've lived in U.K for basically my entire life but i was born in a non-E.U country and i did my GCSE and A-levels here in the U.K. I therefore don't have a British passport (citizenship) yet and therefore cannot apply as E.U student. The current status of my passport is 'Indefinite Leave To Remain'. 'Indefinite Leave To Remain' is permission to stay permanently (settle) in the United Kingdon, free from immigration control. Since I've been in the U.K for more than 10 years now, I am now eligible to apply for a British passport this year. I have to go through various steps and processes and i will receive my passport by the end of june 2010.

However, I've read on Oradea Universities website that admission period for July is "1st of March 2010- 15th of June 2010 – submission files for the acknowledgement of previous studies by the Ministry of Education" and therefore i won't be able to apply as an E.U student since i won't have my Bristish passport by then. I fulfill all the other admissions requirements and are now set to send all my documents.

In this situation do i apply as an E.U or a non-EU student? Does Ordea (or any other romanian uni) favour non-EU applicants over E.U? Is the fees different?

I've e-mailed Ramona. What do you suggest i should do?

Another darn obsticle has arisen and i feel like giving up.
please tell me, I can still apply.

Hi ! you can still apply , difference is that you won't have entrance exam as non-UE citizen ; and yes fees are different , 3168€/year till now instead of 1700€ (decreasing to 1200€ from 2nd year) for EU
Status here is quite special my former univ was clearly discriminating non UE students , giving them seats left when there were. Well , indeed looks like it is the case in Oradea too because UE students take this entrance exam in july and thus secure their seat before end of july . And then free seats are given to non UE candidates. In the facts , being entrance exam for UE students means no more than 40 EU candidates , and traditionaly statistics over years didn't show more than 40 non-UE candidates. All this for 100 seats : 1st year always work 70 to 80% of its capacity (as a comparison cluj received last year twice more files than seats)
It won't be different this year , this univ being less known from outside than Cluj , Constanta , Bucarest or even Iasi .. FMF oradea nly famous on valuemd actually

I advise getting in touch with the consulate and the university. I seem to remember seeing something once to the effect that if your diploma is from a different country than your citizenship, then it needs to be validated in some special way

I am not 100% on this but I think you should check

and I would also check to see if your status can change once you get citizenship (i.e. your payment would be revised for first year and beyond)

Hang on, if i send my documents now they will reach Oradea before July-June and no entrance exam means they can process my application earlier than EU students.

To be honest, Oradea did not have U.K (an E.U country) in mind before making their English programme. They require you to send all the ministry files by 15 june. No one in U.K can send their files by june because they have exams in june and the results come out in august. A-level certificates, results, diplomas are part of the requirement. Without this how the hell can you apply. They can't even do their entrance exam by then.

I know there is a sep session too but again like you said 40 seats are secured in july so what about students from UK whose results come out later then july?

I am lucky enough to have done all my exams last year otherwise i would have been at a disadvantage.

When do people in other E.U country get their results?

Well you can apply before your results are published and they can base their decision on previous year results as well as recommendation from your teachers and prediction grades.
