Re: The IMG Friendly Hospitals
Hey Uhura. I'm not sure how PKMD compiled this list (I can try to find out if you'd like), but I believe I have come across it before, so it might not necessarily be his/her personal work. Having said that, I'm sure this is just a guideline to be used as a starting point as many programs, even within the same hospital, may have different policies.
Thanks PKMD for providing this list which seems as though it can be very helpful to our users.

Re: The IMG Friendly Hospitals
thx Doc! have you considered keeping a list like this in some type of forum format that others could reference & add to?

Re: The IMG Friendly Hospitals
That's a great suggestion Uhura. I'll discuss it with Hanson and see what we can come up with. It might not be right away b/c we're busy making all of the adjustments with the new server, but I'll let you know when we figure something out. Thanks for the great idea

Thanks for the info, but I don't think that a couple of cases of residency will necessarily warrant IMG friendly status. For example, I know that UCSF-Fresno is very IMG UN-friendly. They have little to no foreign clinical students (although I know that they do have a small % of IMG residents). The clinical rotations are basically reserved for the University of Calif San Fran. (UCSF) med students (by contract). So IMG friendly doesn't necessarily mean that IMGs can do a residency there....it means that they more readily welcome IMG students and grads in comparison to other places (very subjective). However, it is great to know that your friends obtained spots there so that others will know that there is hope in those places also. Hope this helps and keep the info coming

Re: The IMG Friendly Hospitals
Here's an FYI:
Ohio listing: Mount Sinai of Cleveland is now closed. Therefore, this list must be from an "old" source. However, we can all work together on trying to keep it updated! 8)

Re: The IMG Friendly Hospitals
Uhura:
I agree, I didn't mean to imply that the info there is absolute, or that any new info is unwanted. I think that you are on to a great idea about collecting info on this thread and using it to create a more accurate and up-to-date IMG-friendly hospital list. So please keep the info flowing and we will try to come up with a good way for all of us to easily use and update the list as needed. Keep up the great work.
