The Bartender is the aristocrat of the working class

Coughlin's law: Anything else is always something better

Want to help people? not sure if medicine is right for you....be a barber, they interact with people, recieve praise(if good), are socially connected, and can make a good living especially if one own's their own shop...at least you wouldn't be contributing to people's alcoholism, if health is even a concern in your career choice....although winemaking has always seemed interesting and glamorous to me...maybe i'll invest 8-10 years of my life and ~200,000 dollars and give it a go...although i've read expect 4-6 years for the vineyard to become profitable

I noticed something when I was going through the unfilled positions for fm and internal medicine on scutwork.com. (first time I have been on that site) There seems to be many unfilled positions for the 2005 match process. Why is there so many? And if all these positions are still open, shouldnt it be easier for a IMG to get in to at least one? ( say if one was interested in fp or internal med).

Also, say you fail step 1, but pass step 2 and 3 with first time, do you think one would have a shot at any fp residency anywhere in the states with all these unmatched positions still available in any given year? (assuming that he is Canadian, with the green card )
