Thumbs up Help With Match Process

    Hello.
Im a 4th yr about to take CK in Sept and CS in Oct. My question is are these dates too late for 2006? I know registering with eras early is good (SEPT) but does it matter when to register with NRMP? What are the requirments to reg for NRMP? If I reg NRMP in early DEC does this put me at a disadvantage for competitive spots?
    Thanks

those dates should be fine. if you finish your exams before dec 31, you should be ok for the match.

some points...you should register with ERAS now! you do not need all of your exams done to register. programs will begin downloading on sept 1, and you should have an application there for them to look at! you also do not need to be done with exams to register with nrmp. do that before december or there will be a late fee.

    timeline for you:
apply for ERAS token with ECFMG today!
when you get the token, register with ERAS. fill out the application, submit your LOR's and transcripts, write your PS, do as much as possible BEFORE SEPT 1!!!! pick your programs and apply....all before SEPT 1!!
    register with NRMP
do step 2 (both parts) (and step 1, if you havent already!) before Dec 31.
rank list in feb (all exams must be done by this date)
    match day in march

    Thumbs up

Hey thanks for reply dude, u rock. Another question. How about if im applying for competitive IM spots. Should I have scores in early? Or are those dates mentioned before good enough? I have a solid Step 1 score, but dont want to be shunned away from top spots because i havent completed step 1 cs/ck yet. Should I take CS/CK earlier?

    Thanks a bunch

well, i am not sure...the wisdom for US students with a strong step 1 is to not risk doing poorly on step 2 ck, and get interviews first. i guess it really is too late to worry about it, because even if you took CK tomorrow, the scores prob wouldn't be back til after sept 1 anyhow. programs could get an update of your score later, and maybe offer an interview based on that, but i think it won't make a huge difference.

i would at least get the exams scheduled, and mention on ERAS when they are scheduled. just get as much as you possibly can on your application, start working on it now, so that when sept 1 comes around, the programs will recieve a solid application.
