Chances of Matching

I'm sure this is an oft asked question, so I thank you for your patience in yet again answering a clueless newbie

I am wondering about my chances at matching into a residency.

I want to do Family Practice, preferably with a rural track. (Yes, actually want, rather than think its the best chance )

I graduated from a UK medical school in 2002. I've not done anything since, except trying to talk myself into actually studying for the USMLEs.

I have a first time pass on Step 2 with an abysmal 75 score. (Zero study ) I also took Step 1 twice during my head up *** period and failed it twice, not really surprisingly, the last time by one single mark.
I am about to retake Step 1, and since I've since managed to retrieve my head and found my ability to study, I'm quite confident of a good score. All my practice tests point to that being a reasonable outcome to hope for.
Since I'm an FMG, I'll have to do Step 2 CS before I can be ECFMG certified, and I'm planning on aceing that one too

Do I have any chance at matching with a literally 'on the border' pass on Step 2 and a third time pass on Step 1.

What can I do to maximize my chances of matching?

Cheer up, you can do it!

1. You got to get some private FP experience hopefully with an excellent LOR
2. Your PS should really tell a story of a dedicated family practitioner
3. Apply to as many programs as you can afford.
