Fellowships after IM

So I was searching on this site and dint find anythin quite informitive about fellowships:
My question is about fellowships after IM:
So what are the factors for getting a fellowship after IM?
So FMG's get them easily, or does the fact that they r FMG's come into play again( I am a canadian citizen).
Can anyone talk about the number of yrs of fellowship after residency for each speciality and the competitivness?
Anythin else anybody knws will be helpful.

search the Ross forum, i posted a whole list of precentages of IMGs in each specialty not too long ago. most fellowships are 3 years, excetp geriatrics is 1 year,a nd interventional cards is 1 year after the 3 of cards. I am currently applying for heme/onc. I am a US citizen, but a Ross grad. still a little early to tell for me. but if you search the topic, i think itwas titled FMG stats or soemthing like that.
