    Smile Application and LORS

    Hello to all!

I have a few questions that I was hoping some of you could answer for me!

    1) I will try my best to submit my application by the 1st week of Sept, but will it be considered incomplete if I only have 1 or 2 LORS? I am expecting to get my 3rd LOR some time in early-mid Nov. (which will be my US LOR - which is a VERY IMPORTANT ONE)

    2) Will PD's still view my application with only 2 LORS?

    3) Could I remove a LOR and add another one in its place?; let say if I am trying to replace a European LOR with a US one.

    4) Will I need to inform all the PD's that I have uploaded another LOR or will they be notified automatically?

    5) I am thinking of using 1 European, 1 Canadian, and 1 US LOR - Is that fine?

I think those are enough questions for now . I would really appreciate it if you could help me out.

    themd109.

    Shoot.

    No.

    Good, the earlier the better.

    2) Will PD's still view my application with only 2 LORS?
    Yes.

Once you assign an LOR to a program and that program downloads that letter, it is not replaceable. You can assign a maximum of 4 LORs to a program, so if you initially assign 3 you can always add a 4th if you'd like but can't take it back once it's retrieved.

    4) Will I need to inform all the PD's that I have uploaded another LOR or will they be notified automatically?
    Automatically.

    5) I am thinking of using 1 European, 1 Canadian, and 1 US LOR - Is that fine?
The more US LORs, the better.

Hey jcu, i thought most programs want 3 lors + all the other stuff before the application is considered "complete", and only then will they look at it. Mix up?

The reason why I say it isn't incomplete in the traditional sense is to deter you guys from not hitting the submit button on day 1. LOR entry through myERAS is done on a rolling basis. So, from a technical perspective your application is "complete" in the eyes of the system you're using to upload your data. And while it's true many programs want to see 3 LORs, many many others will still look at your application and likely offer you an interview with only 2 LORs if you are otherwise desirable as an applicant. Bottom line is - yes, it would be best to have ALL LORs uploaded by September but if that's not possible you should still submit your application on day 1 to maximize your offers.
