    Question Resident Swap ?!

    Advertisements

Has anyone tried resident swap? I was thinking of giving it a shot, to find out about any unfilled positions... its $70 a month, so my first concern is is it legite? if anyone has tried it, or knows anything about it, please let me know..
    Thank you!

what residency do you have to trade for? if you got nothing to trade it might be useless to you.

Apparently you can trade residency positions, or find unfilled positions... I'm interested in the latter, but I'm wondering if its legit...does anyone have any experience or did anyone hear anything about this?

It's useful if your looking for open PGY2 or higher positions.

Once in a while it will post an open PGY-1 position. This was happening more around May-July. In the month of August I think only 1 PGY-1 spot opened up so far.

With the 2010 residency matching about to begin I can't see it being useful until after Match Day 2010 (March).

definitely worth it if you are trying to grab a random open pgy2 spot in whatever. you get an email the second it is posted, and you can thus get your info in asap. most spots run through residentswap as well, so little hunting or wondering if you are in the know. but... it costs money - sucks in the short term, negligible if you end up matching into the pgy2 spot of choice.

You can look on the site for free. The only difference, is that if you pay you get an email. To me, it's a waste of time. A friend of mine got it and said that by the time you recieve the notification, hundreds of people have already gotten the same email and all of you are trying to reach that same program at the same time...you might as well just monitor the site yourself. I don't know anyone who has actually found a spot through there, so I'd save my money if I were you. (and as a side note...I hear SDN posts those open slots anyway)
