Do Canadians know what they are getting themselves into?

Some of the pitfalls: 1. Canada is VERY anti-IMG 2. If it wasn't you people wouldn't have a better chance at an American residency than a Canadian one 3. You will most likely be applying for a J-1 visa 4. Most residencies don't want to deal with visas, PERIOD 5. Even after that, you have to serve 2 years in an underserved area in the states 6. Even if you manage to match in the Canadian match, you have to work 5 years in an underserved area NOT TO SCARE YOU, BUT YOUR CHANCES OF GETTING BACK TO CANADA ARE SLIM TO NONE..............AND A LOT OF ROADBLOCKS ALONG THE WAY.......DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME/LIFE UNLESS YOU ARE A STRONG STUDENT............ |

There is a thread on the 2009 match which examines this very issue in this forum. The situation looks grim esp. for us Canadians if there isn't a drastic increase in residency seats.
