Central versus eastern programs, any reviews?

1-The word eastern is used for the group of states that more than 75%of applicants apply to and western are the states which around 25 % apply to. 2-The eastern region (NY, PA,.....) {when compared to the western region} is composed of roughly 20-25 states which are relatively smaller in size more close to each other but have higher number of programs and population and so normally will give more positions to the IMGs. 3-Taking the geographic factors into consideration: moving from a state to state using Amtrak trains or the airways is relatively easier, cheaper and less time consuming on the eastern side, however you may need 2 days to move by train from state to state on the western side and more expensive and less available air trips on the western side. 4-Also most of the IMGs have relatives and friends working and living in the eastern side which may be an aid in given them better orientation to the region and decreasing the expenses of accomodation. 5-the higher number of programs and closer to each other on the eastern side make the IMGs arrange there list in a way that they will be applying and interviewing in a localized geographic area. 6-Each year 10000-11000 IMGs join the match, most of them ( more than 8000) concentrate their lists on the eastern side. These applicants have relatively higher scores, more USCE (already came before to this region) and meet the program requirements mostly. 7-More than 60% of the positions that remain available for the scramble are those on the western side. 8-When you hear that people with low creds are matching and those with higher are not even sometime getting enough interviews this is to the fact that low scored IMGs are applying more to the western states, but most of the time these IMGs either have no financial deficit, many of them have GC or are citizins and live in the western region or simply they dont apply to states where the majority of IMGs apply. 9-According to the latest statistics and yearly unfilled positions those states will have the least number of applicants and highest unfilled positions: AL, AK, AR, AZ, CA, CO, ID, KS, LA, MN, MO, MS, MT, ND, NE, NM, NV, OK, OR, SD, TN, TX, UT, WA & WY. |
