Waav. I liked your last statement which I have pasted above. We should not lose faith in God during tough times. Its easy to praise God when blessed. But its very tough to praise Him when we go through a long rough path. We should learn to praise and thank Him when he Gives as well as Takes.

I am FMG and married to US citizen. After 2 years of living in the USA I have to send the greencard for renewal to US Immig.which I did 90 days in adavance. US Immigration never sent me back and lost all paperwork too. That I found out later on as they never reply. Meanwhile I was interviewed and selected in IM at Iowa State Uni at Des Moines, in Feb. 2007. (I had USMLE I and II scores above 90s.) We were all planned to move to Iowa from Texas. We had sold our belonging. Since I did not have the greencard in my possession, he denied the residency. He told that when I have greencard, he will take me. I never got my greencard back but US Immigration but told me to apply for citizenship last year in June 2007 when I was illigible to apply. I got my citizenship certificate in Dec. 2007. Then I faxed all the details to the resident corrdinator and he never replied. I went personally and he said he may consider. I have also applied this year at the same place too. In fact legally I was a greencard holder and based on that I got my citizenship. US Immigration also sent me a letter apologizing this mistake. This is a sheer injustice at the time when it is hard to get residency. What to do? Can I go to see Iowa senator and present my case? Any suggestion? Pleaase help.
This year I have applied at 80 places in IM and I got no interviews? Why? Can I get interview in later part of January? HELP! HELP! Jay |

Feel free to contribute insights into the topic or ask relevant questions. however this is not the place for people to prosthelytize. If religion is part of your personal strategy is part of your personal strategy 's fine. but this thread is not about nor for religious views per se. Im sure you can understand the difference.

m2512, I was wondering what are the requirements and costs to join the program that promises to match you?
Also, USMLEROCKER, thank you for sharing your experience and i agree with you. I help both IMG and IMS and when they share their experiences, they tell me that what mattered to the residency directors was the following: 1. Of course, USMLE scores and the number of attempts. 2. Whether you have had U.S. clinical experience. Even if you didn’t get perfect USMLE scores, but had USCE and got good letters of recommendation from it, that significantly increases your chances! And it is very true, as USMLEROCKER mentioned, that observerships do NOT count. During observership, you pretty much cannot do anything. That is why residency programs require up to 1 year of “hands-on” USCE, so they can see that you have been acculturated to the U.S. healthcare system. Also, it is crucial that it’s insured, because if it’s not, you can put yourself, your attending physician and hospitals in jeopardy. 3. Activities since medical school graduation. It is important to show that you have been exposed to a clinical setting so they know your skills are still up to date. 4. 3 to 5 Recent Letters of Recommendation from licensed U.S. physicians (< 12 months old), documenting your USCE. 5. U.S. Immigration Status 6. ECFMG Certification 7. Passing score on USMLE Step 3, if taken. But, keep in mind a fail could have a serious adverse effect on your application. 8. Interviewskills and competency in English language.

HI jayhimani, you can call and explain your credentials to program coordinators. It might click. also, try to get ecfmg certified and complete step 3 as early as possible.
