New Year's Resolution - Charity

Those who have been with us a while will know that ValueMD has contributed to many charitable organizations over the years. 2005 was no exception with the natural disasters resulting from the busy Hurricane season. Even though we contributed respectably in 2005, we’re committed to topping that in 2006 as ValueMD’s New Year’s Resolution is to increase our charitable contributions.

Our favorite charity involves Children International, a very well-respected non-profit organization dedicated to providing support to needy children in 3rd world countries. We’ve already sponsored two children from this organization, and have been very pleased with the results. Therefore, to accomplish our New Year’s Resolution for 2006, VALUE MD WILL MATCH ALL DONATIONS to this charity! Yes, you read that correctly. If you sponsor a child from this non-profit organization, we will sponsor a child as well….doubling your original contribution.

I know what you’re thinking……”What’s the catch?” Well, there is no catch. We were planning on increasing our contributions anyway, so we thought this would be a great way to get more people involved in this very noble cause.
Follow these simple steps to take advantage of our charity matching program:
  1. Visit this link leading to the official website of Children International and sponsor a child (MUST BE DIRECTLY FROM THIS LINK for tracking purposes. We cannot verify donations made otherwise, and therefore, will not be able to match donations unless made via this link).
  2. Forward your receipt and any other pertinent info to Charity@ValueMD.com
Once we receive verification of your sponsorship, we will also sponsor a child and forward you the receipt as proof. We’ll also post about the children so that everyone at ValueMD can enjoy in the happiness we were able to bring to these unfortunate children. Together, we can make a difference!

I just wanted to update everyone about ValueMD's charity matching program. We've had our first user sponsor a child! With her permission, we've been permitted to mention her name to recognize this very noble contribution. Therefore, please join me in thanking Ashley Tarasen for her generosity which has resulted in the sponsorship of a young girl from the Philippines whose family of 6 lives on an income of only $45 per month. We've asked the user to forward us the details once she receives them, which we will post here.

Also resulting from this users' good deed is the sponsorship of a 2nd child thanks to our Matching program. As promised, and as part of our New Year's Resolution to increase our charitable works, ValueMD has matched Ashley Tarasen's donation by sponsoring a child as well in her name. Here are the details about this sponsored child which is quoted from our Charity page.

Quote:

Meet our newest sponsored child, and the first resulting from our matching program, Abraham Hangandu. Abraham became 4 years old on September 7, 2005 and lives in one of the poorest areas of Zambia. His favorite pastimes includes playing with friends and his spoken language is Nyanja.

Abraham's father, Zoom, is deceased. He lives with his mother, Tandiwe, who is 45 years old and works as a street vendor earning a mere $20 per month to support her family of five. He also has 3 brothers, George (12), Alex (10), and Bright (6). The five of them live in a modest two bedroom home with a coal stove and 3 beds, so Abraham sleeps on the floor with a mat. They use community faucets as their water source and a latrine as their sanitary facility.

We began sponsoring Abraham on February 5, 2006. Our support helps provide this young boy with much needed basic necessities.
Because of the compassion displayed by Ashley Tarasen, two more very needy children will receive some much needed support.

If you would like to follow her lead by sponsoring a child from Children International and having your donations matched by ValueMD, please read the post above for more details.
