I think they have them in mexico... they run along these clear PVC piping... you just bet on the # and watch the race!

Nifty! You know, they can run at about 1.5 miles per hour! I think it would be fun. Good way to pass the time. Good opportunity for any budding bookies too

Actually, we'll breed the winners to make better "herds" of cockroaches for dining. We can name them like horses: Roachette out of Six Legged Fool, etc.

More than you know, jpryor. Temps in the teens during the day, single digits and windy at night, no license, no car, stuck in the house with nothing but dial-up to keep me busy. I am going insane.

Well, don't get your hopes up too much about the island. There you're going to have endure 80+ degrees every day, constant ocean breezes and you'll be stuck on the beach with that oh-so-annoying lapping of waves on the shore. It'll make you so insane you'll just have to go kick the water and stomp up and down the beach stealing the pretty stones and shells from it. And then, there's that irritating rhythmic music wafting in the night air coming from dadgum bar where everybody heads to on the weekends. You can't get them to understand your plaintive wailing because they've been imbibing all evening so you're just forced to quaff a few to get on the same plane...and that's when the troubles will set in. People will look around and see this girl on her hands and knees chasing some poor creature across the floor and they'll swear they saw her licking her lips. The bar might empty on hearing the crunching of shells from behind the bar. CNN will have to do a live report.
