No, I don't think Monroe would like it in the Caribbean; he's native to Maine and likes it to be about 60-70 degrees, high humidity. Plus he's kinda sensitive to stress, so I don't think he'd like the plane ride, and I really don't know if I would be allowed to bring a salamander since they're illegal to own in some states (not Maine!) and they're not native to the Caribbean.
However, I DO intend to get some pets once I get down there. Praying mantis, tarantula, Madagascar Hissing cockroach, and katydid are all on my list. And maybe some fish. Low-maintenance pets. |

BTW, spotted salamanders live to be about 20 years old, so he'll be waiting for me when I'm done med school

1.5-3 inches. They're really quite tame. They make hissing sounds when you pick them up, and males fight each other (pushing around, they don't kill each other, it's just funny to watch them play "king of the mountain").

Quite the contrary, I think they're wonderful! I've always loved bugs, and I think they're beautiful, even cockroaches. They're fascinating creatures!
