By the way, you can use ground up dried grasshoppers to thicken soup.

yes, u are right muthea...i am at an odd #...so now I am posting to make it all nice and even.

have u ever tried chocolate covered grasshoppers? i took entomology in college and one of my profs had a box of those chocolate covered critters. whoo...looked nasty!

Mmmmmm, grasshoppers are yummy! Never tried the chocolate-covered kind, but I've fried them and I've sauteed them. Last summer I collected Carolina locusts for a pesto pasta dish. Very nutritious, high protein ratio, and the chitin (exoskeleton) is a good source of calcium.

ok, another post for me!

and muthea... grasshoppers? really? i guess if that floats your boat.... but then again, i've seen fried cockroaches and things in china. i tried (rather reluctantly, and upon consistent nudging from my uncle) baby bees.
