I am the only Puerto Rican that does not eat beans! I only eat Gandules (peas) they don't count as beans. So I never missed beans. Oh I despised removing them from my plate.

French-Canadians put ketchup and gravy on EVERYTHING. I mean it. If it's edible, they've probably tried ketchup on it. My mom spent a couple decades in Southern California, and my dad grew up in Florida and was in the Marines, so my culinary world view is pretty varied, and I have always hated ketchup. It's just tomato, sugar and vinegar. Tobasco, cayenne, salsa... ANYTHING's better than ketchup!!!

I just had some homemade chilli con carne tonight. With plenty of cayenne and chipotle pepper sprinkled on. Yummy!

Yeah good occasionally. But the pocketbook couldn't take too much. The seafood buffett was awesome, but for $85 per person ....

St Maarten isn't so bad in the food department. There are a bazillion different to-die-for restaurants. The only thing I can't seem to find is decent fixins for Mexican food. The Mexican section at the store has like 35 kinds of salsa, but no flour tortillas, enchilada sauce, or green chilis.

I've just had to figure out how to make it all from scratch, which isnt so bad.
