If you are a Nurse or PA why go to Medical school now?

Why go to Medical school Now? If you are a Nurse or PA?

I know I'm not doing it for the Money but for the different practice, I want Rurual practice.

Why are you doing it?

why MD???

i've been thinking much on this subject NP or MD??...of course the NP would be close to home...and dare I say "easy" compared to medical school, pretty much what i'm leaning towards right now is if get the chance in the future to go to medical school i will, why pass it up. For me i really enjoy education, learning and teaching

The compelling reason was that I wanted the ultimate responsibility in decision making for my patients.

Well 2 things to consider on that is money, A NP I know spent an additional 100,000 on becoming a NP. The Autonomy, you still don't have it. Many things will still have to be referred to the Doc. And To add, the education is not the same for both, less for the PA/NP.

I have three different perspectives.
1. The difference between being an employee and an employer.
2. I own a medical consulting business and a large portion of my revenues went to physicians simply to have the "MD" signature, although I did 100% of the work.
3. I intend to live out of the US and no other country recognizes the PA license (that I'm aware of).

Well....not total honesty

It's often read or heard that " I'm not doing this for the money". But let's be real honest. Anyone who would spend around $200,000 on an education to make 60k a year is just silly. There are hundreds of ways to help fellow mankind, medicine is only one of them. So when you ask about different areas of medical practice, those silly responses that involve autonomy, work load, etc...ignore them. The honest answer that they have been socialogically trained to deny since preparing for interviews is, " Dr.'s make a lot more money". Thank you.

Altruism aside, the financial compensation is almost a given source of motivation.

Yea when I say "not for the money" FP make the bottom and I could excel as an RN and make 90 to 100 a year without this but I want to be an MD. Yes the money and Loan repayment are big factors but so is lifestyle and personal accomplishment.
