Why do stupid threads get more views/replies than meaningful ones

I think it is sorta like the reason why everyone slows down to look at a fender bender. I don't know why people do this either.

it's kind of along the lines of why trashy tabloids sell so much and why gossip spreads so fast....people want to hear about the woes of others, it makes them feel good...

1) The serious threads are a simple question that can be answered in one or two replies.

2) The serious thread has been asked and answered so many times that those that have been around a while don't want to take the time out of their lives to answer something for someone that was too lazy to do a search.

4) We on the forum don't know the answer, i.e. the perennial "What are my chances?" thread, or "is the xyz class full?" thread... None of us sit on the admissions board so all we can do is point you to the stastical distributions on the website, but we really can't answer your question with any accuracy, hence few replies.

We try, but we do not know all. Thats why some threads go unanswered or are referred to call Bayshore/other official office/etc for the latest/most accurate information.

Also one man's trash is another's treasure. A thread you consider "stupid" may be considered meaningful to someone else, and vice versa. You are free to pick and choose what you read.
