Wink Fird Aid

Is it possible to memorize all the contents of First Aid, even without understanding them, say in a year's time?

Has someone done it before?I am in premed and I feel guilty seeing a copy of FA lying on my table.I want to learn, but most of the concepts are er..Greekish(may have just coined a new adjective)!

yes

you can memorize but you will not understrand most of it. you aren't the first to come up with the idea to just memorize a review book and take the exam...if it were only that easy.

review books are just for that. the contents are in outline form and don't explain anything, they assume you already know how to connect the material....there is just no shortcuts. i would say maybe skim through first aid for the classes you are taking every semester so that you know the content and whgen it is taught in class you can pay extra attention and make your own notes in FA. it really works...

If your in pre-med... i wouldn't waste my time with first aid. If you wanna be productive then maybe read a netters or something. It might make a bit more sense and help you in the short term.

read a netters? you deserve a pimp slap for that.....if you really really want to read a review book before starting i would recommend Step Up. Its not outline form but it is at least in paragraphs. First Aid even uses some diagrams from it. It is written simply but there is a lot of good information in it.....make sure you get the 2nd edition

LOLOL. Very true.

To the original poster: Please remember this post when you have completed your first two years of medical school. Hopefully, you'll shake you head in recognizing how far you've come.

I checked out Step Up................pardon my ignorance but does it cover 'all the important points' a-la First Aid?

no review book covers "all" the facts.....you would be surprised how much good information is in there. At first you'll be like this book is too thin is it worth it, but if you read thru it you'll be surprised how much good info is in there. I would say the book is good for a systems intro and also as a review to tie things together
