With the upcoming Fourth of July, I would just like to share a speech that I enjoy reading from time to time that has a special meaning these days..




Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.

Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure. We are met on a great battle-field of that war. We have come to dedicate a portion of that field, as a final resting place for those who here gave their lives that that nation might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this.

But, in a larger sense, we can not dedicate–we can not consecrate–we can not hallow–this ground. The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here, have consecrated it, far above our poor power to add or detract. The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here. It is for us the living, rather, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced. It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us–that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion–that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain–that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom–and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.

Because of Globalization the world is changing, and it is getting smaller. The Ocean cannot Isolate the American continent from the rest of the world, so we need a new a approach and thinking, how we can we work with other nations; in terms of national security, economics, cultural exchange and eradicating poverty and diseases like HIV. We have to understand Islam and work with the muslim moderates in the Islamic world. We have to find smart way of dealing with China, because it is an emerging power house like the U.S. The cold war is over but Russia is still with us, we must work with them, and urge them to improve their democracy. May God continue to bless the U.S.A.

Why? Moderate Muslims aren't a problem until they start speaking of changing the societies they migrate to...and then they are no longer moderates. Conversely, Muslims need to start assimilating into the real world and learning tolerance for other religions...including Judaism.

Who understands tolerance for other religions, moderates or the other brothers. Islam is about peace and tolerance for others. I agree with you completely.

Every religion has its extremists, includng Judaism. Just in today's culture we associate violent extremism with Islam.

The question of globalization is how far do we go to secure our own safety?

so do the muslims have to to learn to understand christianity and judaism and be willing to incorporate them into their society? I doubt that, so why is it always one side trying to accomodate for the other side?
