The RULES

I'm not a party-pooper, but it seems to me that a few users have neglected to read the rules of the relaxing lougne:

DOC
Quote:
For example, if you have absolutely no interest in participating in medical school conversations and are looking for a site to exclusively discuss politics, religion, racism, and other non-medically related topics in a manner inconsistent with our TOS (personal insults, racial and religous slurs, profanity, etc), you've likely picked the wrong place. We're not saying there's anything wrong with those discussions, but this is not the best place for them. There are plenty of websites out there dedicated to those topics and mannerisms which will better suit your needs.
I'm not an administrator and I don't even have 500 posts yet, but people should read the rules. Seriously, would you sign a loan contract without reading the 'fine print'-- oh yeah, I did that with my MedAchiever loan. (There were just so many words that I couldn't read them all.)

You can say I'm a ninnie if you want, but the rules are important.

constructive criticism, always a good thing

You realize, of course, that your post is not directly related to medical school topics, either..... You are right, the rules do say what they say, as nebulous as they are.

I reckon if Doc and Co. get tired of the relaxing lounge, they can delete it or assign a moderator, it would be easy for them to do that. Perhaps you should message Doc and the moderators if you have a concern/idea regarding the current state of the relaxing lounge.

im not a lawyer, but i dont think we are violating TOS.

its says that we are in violation if we discuss non-medically related topics in a manner inconsistent with the TOS.

as long as there are no personal insults etc. then we are ok.

Shouldn't have posted that!

Well, I regret having posted that whole shpeel about the rules. I'm not saying the relaxing lounge content should be solely about medical/ medical school issues, but I don't think personal attacks should be tolerated. I mean look at the user who called the FMG's losers and some of the other posts about people being racists or the blurbs about christians and muslims. It's one thing to discuss but another to attack. I should have been more specific about my issues when I posted 'the rules' and I apologize to everyone for being so ambiguous. Just call me Pat from SNL!

Relaxing Lounge

I'm glad that someone actually read the rules . We have had a few complaints lately regarding some of the posts in this forum. The one about the user calling people "losers" was removed (pending investigation by Mods) because, just as intended by the original poster, it flamed otherwise regular users to respond in less than professional manners and was filled with insults, flaming, foul language, etc. That clearly violated the TOS on many levels....and it had nothing to do with being off topic.

The Relaxing Lounge is a good thing because it keeps the off topic debates away from the school forums. At the same time, some people mistake it to be a place where anything goes. While it is a little less restricted, the TOS still apply. So long as people do not take advantage of it, we would like to keep the Relaxing Lounge open for those regular users who wish to occassionally go off topic.....rather than those occassional (new) users who wish to regularly go off topic
