If nurses want to practice as doctors, they should train as one.

This was a post I saw on Student Doctor Network...

If nurses want to practice medicine, train them as doctors

    DNP: 700 (offered online )
    PA: 2400
    MD/DO: >17000

    50% failed simplified Step 3

Yet, DNP's want to be called 'Dr', independent everywhere (outpt, inpt, ER), be equivalent to PCP's & have full hospital privileges

    DNP residencies New!

    NY Times story

    Future of medicine?
    1) Do true NP outcome studies
    2) Pass institutional policies restricting 'Dr' title
    3) Hire PA's & AA's not DNP's or CRNA's

Haha.... Philosophy PhD is respectable. It may not be profitable but as humans we live not as machine but to explore the essence as is. Besides that issue I can see Baba point.

If a nurse admit into a medical school for study in medical science and complete program, then possible to be a doctor. No other way.

What sadly has happened in the USA is that there is a shortage of Physicians "Doctors" that has led to the creation of all these "mid levels providers" and "physician extenders". The truth is, there is no shortage of Physicians but a shortage of residencies to train Physicians post graduate years!

The Healthcare Industry abhors a vacuum! Hence, the creation of Naturopaths, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Chiropractors, etc, etc, etc. and in some countries "Witch doctors"! Patients need to be taken care of so they search for what is available and affordable!

The solution in the USA is to offer more accredited residencies for the numerous Physicians that never got matched! This is obvious!
