Here's the ad: Find Suncoast Pathology Jobs in Physicians / Doctors and Healthcare
"Unexpected partner track position open for graduate of American medical school and American pathology residency program (AP/CP, BC/BE) in beautiful Gulf Coast of Southwest Florida in independent laboratory, hospital based with large outpatient volume. Fellowship training, particularly in Dermatopathology, preferred but not required."

...and I don't think it's racist to expect physicians to speak English and SPEAK IT WELL in America. My grandparents have a hard enough time understanding a US-born English-speaking physician...combine a thick accent with complex medical jargon and it's a recipe for noncompliance.

"Being concerned does not make you a racist - it makes you reasonably concerned about your personal safety!"
Yes, it is racist even if you are concerned for your family. Somebody needs a dictionary.

I guess I would not be able to work there, I am a Canadian graduate. LOL. The Canadian government is really harsh on foreign trained doctors but made it easier for doctors from certain countries outside of NA to get licensure. I know Australian trained doctors have few problems in Canada. British graduates are also similar but this also raises the issue of bias because Canadian licensing boards are very harsh on doctors from developing countries.

I really wonder how this is illegal? While I understand that this may be wrong (as an foreign medical student you can understand I am not thrilled) I do wonder how it is illegal to request someone who is US educated. I was trying to put myself in the head of the person who wrote this ad and this is what the person may have been thinking: "I know the education system in the US is great, and in my mind is unparalleled. Therefore I want nothing but the best for patients so I want a US educated physician."
How can this be seen as a clear case of discrimination considering the differences state to state regarding foreign graduates (for example the time it may take to become fully licensed)? There may be in state laws but how could any federal discrimination law be utilized considering the differences state to state? Just playing devils advocate...
