I thought I was going to hear more new stuff. Guess I've got to stop having these high hopes.

Maybe I should have titled it "tonight's selective history lesson" ?

we are in a tough spot w/ the economy and TWO wars happening right now. not sure how much anything can really change at all

Or a better title would be "we're finishing the job the last guys decided to cut-and-run from"

Why, was the Iraq War more important than OBL and Al-Qaeda?

The previous administration made a mistake trying to fight 2 wars at the same time, I concede that, but they never tried to cut and run from it, that is more than naive to say, it is reproachable.

What, I can't use a little "shock and awe" to get my point across? The cut-and-run refers directly to GWB and DC, not the troops and commanders. They failed our armed forces and didn't give them the chance to succeed from the start.

When the field commanders asked for more troops under the GWB administration, GWB and co. denied their request. Doesn't sound to me like they were committed see the mission through, but stay the course (read: quagmire).

Unfortunately, the GOP is going to spin this increase as a negative thing even though they clamored for it when Gen. McC asked for it a few months ago.
