Thread: Censorship

Wouldn't it be ironic if a thread about censorship got censored or deleted? I'm being censored left and right and now have 5 infractions for just speaking my mind so I've created this thread where people can discuss issues related to being censored at this site.

As for commercial interests, Tipton, the moderators are given their instructions and the TOS is their bible, but just like the bible, people interpret it different ways and in a selective manner. For those who became moderators to fairly adjudicate and moderate the conduct at this site, it will be much more even, but for those who became moderators for other reasons I've already mentioned, it will be much more haphazard and biased.

I've received 3 infractions within a 2 week period. The first was from a new moderator regarding a statement I made about pre-med students, and what it's like to talk to them now that I've graduated from med school. I was given an infraction and temporarily banned by this moderator who just happens to be pre-med.

The next infraction (after returning from my banning) was by the same moderator because of a response I made to FOID with regards to how to make the relaxing lounge more legit. FOID said comments in the relaxing lounge are no longer published on the front page to make this website more legit and I said there's an easier solution, just delete all the spamming threads and ban all spammers, but that might be a conflict of interest, I said, because some of the moderators are spammers, and where else would they find people who have time to moderate these threads. That resulted in an infraction because this moderator was one of the spammers, and the comment was deleted.

So, that sort of thing reeks of bias and an abuse of power where they are handing out infractions because they dislike your opinion.

I've seen some odd bannings in the past few months including Lswilt and CompassionMD. Of course I didn't follow everything they wrote particularly if their posts were deleted. Compassion was a Statia moderator even. So there must be a lot going on behind the scenes that us lowly folks do not see.

hmmm I smell a revolution I think people with >=2 infractions should stick together
and should have a representative moderator for their ethnic group I recommend the OP

You got an infraction over that comment? It really looks like a conflict of interest, all things considered. Subject to interpretation as you said.

I have voiced out my opinion on the matter since it seems that the legitimacy of the site is in question, per that own moderator, but just think for a second, the legitimacy would have never been questioned if the increase your post count here thread would have been locked from the beginning, anyone knows, that after that thread was open, the post count for each user is virtually meaningless, it made quantity supersede quality, same went for the rep system, both, worthless.

Actually it is the main reason why I am retired from posting constantly, the site has degraded in quality in recent years, most of it due to the relaxing lounge and spamming.

so are we talking about the anti-spamming revolution or the anti-infractions? or both?

In my case ...both! but after 6 years I gave up!

Exactly, Genossa. That choice of moderator likely has to do with the fraternizing that went on in that spamming thread between FOID and the new mods. In fact, in a thread in the SGU forum congratulating the new moderator there, one poster commented, "2 lovers of FOID are now moderators. Coincidence?!" That was the last comment on that thread, prompting it to be locked.

For those of us who have actually attended offshore schools and have contributed to discussions in numerous forums giving our advice from our experiences to now be moderated by a biased pre-med mod who racked up 33,000 posts in a year and a half from spamming...well, it takes the last bits of enjoyment out of posting here.

And thanks for the vote, DR.FATIN, but becoming a moderator is not something for which I aspire.
