I had a friend who was going to do his rotations in North Jersey after spending two years in the Carib and his whole life in Texas and he was literally scared to go to New Jersey because of the show. As someone who spent almost everyday for five years in Newark, I think any kind of move to revitalize Newark is a positive one and to be honest the last thing to worry about there are members of the Italian maffia. If you ever have the time, "New Jersey Drive" is an old but good movie.
i have friends and family in jersey. i don't attempt to explain the troubles of the city, but to (in a thinly veiled way) say that the black population is the problem is utterly pathetic and ridiculous.
Newark is crumbling for many, many reasons. also throwing a major mall like this up that is costing 2 BILLION dollars isn't going to help the indigent population, or any of the population, it's just going to draw some of the traffic out of New York.
but remember that, even when those who move you be kings or men of power, your soul is in your keeping alone. When you stand before God you cannot say "but I was told by others to do thus" or that "virtue was not convenient at the time." This will not suffice. Remember that.
