The Secret Talks in our New "Open" Government

have been meeting secretly in a Senate hearing room
appear to be inching toward a consensus that could reshape the debate
they have begun to tackle the next steps: how to enforce the requirement for everyone
a wide range of interest groups
the White House has been kept informed

the sense of the room is that an individual obligation
The ideas discussed include a proposal to penalize people who fail to comply
    Be afraid....be very afraid......

Nah, O is Ok. The only people mad at O will be the extreme lefty, moveon.org types.
The Republicans will make a hue and cry and will fall in line, as they know O wants to unify this factional country.

Some wheeling-dealing, will always be there.

Who mentioned O? He isn't even participating.

    This isn't about that.

Right now, as we speak, there are special interest groups, primarily led by the insurance industry and big pharm, that are attempting to restructure our world in ways that shake to the very foundations of the Constitution.

What should be an individual right is now being termed an obligation, and they are very interested in enforcement of this new obligation. The obligation should be on society to enforce/support the individual right to health care.

You have the right to a lawyer if you are charged, but no right to a doctor if you are sick or injured? What they want to do is make it your obligation to pay for insurance and penalize you if you don't? What they are trying to do is simply wrong.

This discussion should never be about providing insurance, this should be about providing care.

The concept as advanced in this article should strike fear in the heart of good thinking people.

the concepts of insurance and providing care are so deeply entrenched, how would you suggest separating the two? we all know how influential these lobbyists are and how useless congress is. (now more than ever)

Yes, the two have become deeply entrenched together.

How would I begin separating them? I would start my making the conversation about providing care, not about providing insurance. The I would reinforce that priority by not allowing the insurance companies or their lobbyists anywhere near the issue.

From there I don't know. I don't have a solution. Never claimed to.
