Thread: If I knew what I know now, I would have...

Hello,

Please indulge me with your thoughts. In retrospect, what specifically do you wish you would have had studied or learned more about (subject wise) before you came to medical school? Histology? Would you have taken an anatomy class? Please share your wisdom! I have 1.5 years left on an MA in Gerontology and I can find time to prepare myself more adequately for a challenging course.

Took anatomy and physiology in undergrad, so even though the work load was much harder in med school at least there was some familiarity. Med school is always going to be rough, but if you've had some of the material before, at least it's not completely foreign.

Also, all the math and physical chemistry I thought I'd never use again has turned up again on physics boards.

who has physics boards? When did med school start giving those?

Residency that one, not medical school. Radiology. Just pointing out that I hoped to never use math or pchem again, yet here they are.

As for med school, I always thought the most useful courses to have taken beforehand were at least some biochem, anatomy, and physiology. Histo and embryo, simply put, aren't particularly difficult or heavily weighted and I can't see much value in taking them twice. Just my opinion.
