18 000 Doctors per year, assume minimum age of 26 to become a Doc(Resident), assume people over 45 no longer bother much with marriage, that leaves 180 000 Doctors of the same sex of the competitive age.
Population of the opposite sex in the country excluding other doctors, between age 18-45 = around 50 million.
16% wants to marry a Doctor.
16 % of 50 million is 8 million.
Assume the same porpotion of Doctors and non-Doctors are unmarried U%.
(8 million x U%)/ (180 000 x U%) = roughly 40-50 to 1.
When you become a doctor, you will have 40-50 girls going after you. QED.
